Outokumpu Chief Technology Officer Pekka Erkkilä has decided to retire from his
position, and thereby steps down from the Outokumpu Leadership Team as of
February 2, 2017. However, he will continue to support the company in select
key areas, and represent Outokumpu’s interest in for example Fennovoima and the
Association of Finnish Steel and Metal Producers.

Says Outokumpu CEO Roeland Baan: “Since joining the company in 1983, Pekka has
been a part of making and shaping Outokumpu into the global leader that it is
today. His deep knowledge and insights into our business, operations and
industry have served the company well, and I am pleased he will continue to
lend this expertise to us in the future as well. On behalf of the entire
company I want to express our warmest thanks for his service and wish him all
the best.”

Says Pekka Erkkilä: “When I joined Outokumpu as a young engineer, the Tornio
mill was a brand new mill with just five percent of its current melting
capacity, and was competing against twenty players in Europe. Today, Outokumpu
is the undisputed leader in Europe, with a strong position in the Americas, and
it is on a solid track to become the best value creator in the industry. It has
been a privilege to be part of the team and the journey, and as we now have
turned the company back to profitability, it feels like the right moment to
open a new chapter in my personal life as well.”
