DISCLOSURE UNDER CHAPTER 2 SECTION 9 OF THE SECURITIES MARKET ACT               

Sampo plc (business code 0142213-3) has on 17 December 2009 received a          
disclosure under Chapter 2, Section 9 of the Securities Markets Act, according  
to which the total number of Sampo A shares and related voting rights owned by  
Capital Research and Management Company (taxpayer I.D. 86-0206507) has on 16    
December 2009 risen above one twentieth (1/20) of Sampo plc's entire stock and  
voting rights.

shares and 1,200,000 are B shares. Each A share entitles its holder to one (1)  
vote and each B share to five (5) votes. Thus, the total number of votes is
